ocean side garden

while my sister and her girls were visiting last week,
the children requested a beach combing expedition.
so we headed to saxe point park...
to find some sea glass and visit this ocean side garden

located in the neighbouring district of esquimalt,
only 15 minutes away from our home,
saxe point has become one of our favourite spots for picnicking.

the park has this large grassy area that overlooks the ocean and the olympic mountains.
there are benches throughout so you can sit and enjoy the spectacular views
and enjoy all the beautiful ocean side flowers.

as you move away from the ocean
there is also a labyrinth garden tucked away and protected from the ocean breeze.

while the children went looking for sea glass, my sister and i went to explore this area.
the colour and flower display was spectacular !!!

my favourite are the giant devil's club...
these ones have grown over six feet tall.

this ocean side garden is definitely another must see if you are ever visiting victoria.

unfortunately, the tide was in while were there
so the hunt for sea glass wasn't very successful.

nevertheless, the children had a great time climbing and exploring the rocks.
